Deadline approaches for Kings Award

The Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and is awarded for life.

It is therefore a huge privilege and honour to receive the award, which is the equivalent of an MBE.

To be nominated, a group must be made up of at least three people; be led by volunteers, not paid staff; have been running for at least three years; and provide a specific and direct benefit to the local community.

Groups are not able to nominate themselves, but they can be nominated by someone independent of the group.

So if you know of a group doing amazing things in their neighbourhood, the Kent Lieutenancy is on hand to help with the application process – but you will have to act soon as the deadline for 2023 nominations is September 15.
