Volunteer needed for wood recycling

for Woodpeckers Of Kent

Woodpeckers of Kent Ltd are seeking volunteers.

They operate a wood waste collection service and work extensively with the construction sector but also with any organisations that generate waste wood.

Their focus is on carefully sorting and reusing as much of the collected wood as possible; anything suitable is offered back to the community for their DIY/building projects; much is used to make a wide range of wood products or for firewood and kindling. Nothing is returned to the waste stream. The goal is to find the best environmental use for each piece.

This labour-intensive activity creates paid jobs, training and volunteering places for the community – including ex-offenders, those coming through drug or alcohol problems, people with mental health or learning difficulties or those who have simply lost their confidence and self-esteem due to long-term unemployment.

They are currently looking for volunteers that can help with the wood collections and the recycling process of the wood. As they start with the wood collections from building sites next week, they are looking for volunteers that are willing to work outdoors. After an initial training, volunteers will be ready to support and enjoy contributing to a sustainable cause.

For anybody who is interested in this opportunity, please contact Erik at info@woodpeckersok.com
